Tbilisi Mayor Kakha Kaladze is introducing so-called yellow boxes at intersections. During a municipal government meeting, he announced that under the yellow box system, drivers may only enter the box if they can clear it. If traffic ahead means they would not be able to immediately exit the intersection, drivers should wait before driving into the yellow box zone. Kaladze said yellow boxes are a proven international method to reduce traffic congestion.
