The United Kingdom issued a statement regarding the 'occupied territories' in the Tskhinvali region and Moscow's claims of control over Georgian territories, emphasizing that attempts to control sovereign territories of Georgia are unacceptable. The statement was made by the British Minister of State for Europe and North America, Stuart Wood. "The United Kingdom condemns the so-called 'elections' in the South Ossetia region. Attempts by Moscow to establish control over Georgian sovereign territory and territorial integrity are unacceptable and will not be recognized. Russia must fulfill its obligations under the 2008 ceasefire agreement," said the British diplomat in his statement. London reaffirmed its position on the inadmissibility of violating Georgia's sovereignty.
