By the first three months of 2026, Georgia's population is expected to slightly decrease by about 4,700 people, according to the National Statistics Service (Geostat).
In January-June 2026, 17,509 children were born in Georgia, while 22,224 people died. This means a natural population decrease of 4,715 people.
The population change is recorded only in two regions:
The largest territory of Georgia is located in the mountainous demographic minus. The leader in terms of decrease is the region of Imereti, where the number of deaths exceeded the number of births by 1,626 people. In Samegrelo and Zemo-Svaneti, the decrease was 1,134 people, in Kakheti — 791, in Shida-Kartli — 582, in Guria Shida-Kartli — 384.
In Georgia, the population decreased for three consecutive months.
