In Georgian public schools, the study of the English language will start from the second grade instead of the first. This was announced by the Ministry of Education. It was noted that the changes are related to the curriculum of the educational program. The English language is expected to be taught in the second grade, increasing the number of study hours. When choosing the language, students will not be limited in options. Currently, two foreign languages are taught in Georgian public schools. English is taught from the first grade, and the second language is chosen with the help of parents. Schools are encouraged to offer more than two languages to choose from — usually Russian, German, French, or Italian. The concrete decision depends on the capabilities of the school and material resources available to the educational institution.
