Georgia’s annual inflation rate stood at 5.9% in April 2026, while consumer prices increased by 1.7% month-on-month, according to data released by the National Statistics Office (Geostat) on May 4. Prices for food and non-alcoholic beverages rose by 0.5% compared to March. Annual inflation was mainly driven by price increases in transport (10.3%), followed by miscellaneous goods and services (9%), food and non-alcoholic beverages (7.5%), and housing, water, electricity, gas, and other fuels (6.5%). Within the food-related category, the highest annual price increases were recorded for fish (21.3%), fruit and grapes (11.8%), meat (10.1%), vegetables (9.3%), bread and cereals (7.7%), sugar, jam, honey, chocolate and confectionery (7.3%), oils and fats (6.3%), milk, cheese and eggs (4.5%).
