Тбилисский городской суд избрал меру пресечения для лидера оппозиционного «Единого национального движения» (ЕНД) Георгия Барамидзе. Политика задержали вечером 11 сентября в его доме. Ему предъявили обвинения по статьям 307¹ (государственная измена) и 318 (саботаж) Уголовного кодекса Грузии, которые предусматривают до 4 лет лишения свободы. Поводом для уголовного преследования стали заявления Барамидзе от 18 июля в авторской программе Яго Хвичии «Рождение Грузии». В интервью политик вспомнил о своем участии в событиях войны в Абхазии 1992-1993 годов. Tbilisi city court has chosen a measure of restraint for the leader of the opposition 'United National Movement' Georgia Baramidze. The politician was detained in the evening of September 11 at his home. They presented charges under Articles 307¹ (state treason) and 318 (incitement) of the Criminal Code of Georgia, which provide for up to 4 years of imprisonment. The hearing for the opposition leader's case began on July 18 in the evening program of Yago Khvichia 'Georgia's Choice'. During the interview, the politician spoke about his participation in the events of the war in Abkhazia in 1992-1993. In response to a question about why the Georgian side in Sukhumi did not shoot at the planes for bombing, Baramidze answered: 'They [our side] restrained themselves,' emphasizing this as a purely emotional and official statement.
