Католикос-Патриарх всей Грузии Шио III 7 июня впервые проведет массовое крещение детей, продолжая традицию, начатую в 2008 году его предшественником, покойным Илией II. Анонсированное массовое крещение станет 73-м по счету. Оно состоится в Тбилисском кафедральном соборе Святой Троицы (Самеба). Массовое крещение трех и последующих детей из венчанных семей — одна из самых известных инициатив Илии II, считавшегося духовным лидером нации несколько последних десятилетий. За год ее осуществления Илия II стал крестным отцом для 50 тысяч детей по всей стране. Это в определенной мере способствовало улучшению демографической ситуации. После смерти Илии II многие задачи, связанные с этой традицией, были переданы новому патриарху. Новый патриарх дал однозначный ответ 17 мая, в День святой семьи, где он учредил.

On June 7, Catholicos-Patriarch of all Georgia Shio III will conduct the first mass baptism of children, continuing the tradition started in 2008 by his predecessor, the late Ilia II. The mass baptism will include 73 children. It will take place in the Tbilisi Cathedral of the Holy Trinity (Sameba). The mass baptism involves three and more children from families — one of the most famous initiatives of Ilia II, considered a double leader of the nation for several decades. During the year, Ilia II's initiative has become a sacred event for 50 thousand children across the country. This event has also contributed to the development of demographic situation. After Ilia II's death, many tasks and responsibilities related to this tradition were taken over. The new patriarch gave a single answer on May 17 in the Day of the Holy Family, where he studied.
