Грузия сегодня отмечает 35-й День независимости — 108 лет со дня провозглашения первой демократической республики 26 мая 1918 года. Первая демократическая республика просуществовала недолго — всего два с половиной года, после чего была советизирована. Грузия смогла вернуть свою свободу только в 1991 году и с тех пор ежегодно отмечает этот день. В Тбилиси и других городах Грузии были организованы различные праздничные мероприятия. Georgia today celebrates its 35th Independence Day, marking 108 years since the first democratic republic was declared on May 26, 1918. The first democratic republic lasted only two and a half years before Soviet rule was established. Georgia regained its independence in 1991, and since then, the country has celebrated its independence annually on this day.
