«Выборы 2028 года пройдут в соответствии с действующим законодательством, я всем этим обесчиваю. Действующее законодательство полностью соответствует стандартам, и, соответственно, мы проведем выборы 28 октября 2028 года по действующему законодательству», — сказал Кобахидзе, отвечая на вопросы журналистов.

Former Minister of Georgia Irakli Kobakhidze categorically responded to the proposal about a comprehensive electoral reform, stating that the upcoming parliamentary elections will be held under the current legislation.
"The 2028 elections will be held in accordance with the current legislation, and I fully support this. The current legislation provides a balance between the standards, and, accordingly, we will hold the elections on October 28, 2028, under the current legislation," Kobakhidze said in response to journalists' questions.
The statement was made amid numerous calls from the opposition demanding changes to the electoral system, including the introduction of a fully proportional system, the abolition of the three-tier system, the election of mayors by direct vote, and the introduction of gender quotas, which would ensure equal and fair representation.
