The Tbilisi city court sentenced an ex-investigator of the Revenue Service, Vladimir Khundadze, to 1 year and 6 months in prison for assisting bootleggers by providing them with illegal alcohol in large quantities. According to the verdict, Khundadze is expected to be released in January 2026 and plans to appeal the sentence. In 2025, Khundadze, who managed a control and supervisory function at the customs, was arrested. The case involved the illegal production of counterfeit alcohol and the sale of counterfeit alcohol under the guise of real brands. Khundadze helped bootleggers to introduce counterfeit alcohol into Georgia's market. The court's decision is currently being appealed by the accused.
