The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Georgia categorically condemned the holding of 'presidential elections' in the Tskhinvali region. Official Tbilisi emphasizes that electronic voting under Russian control does not legitimize the occupation regime or change the internationally recognized status of the Tskhinvali region as a non-part of Georgia. "The holding of so-called elections on the occupied territories of Georgia with the participation of Russian Federation forces, in conditions where internally displaced persons and refugees are unable to freely and safely return to their homes, is unacceptable and does not change the legal status of the occupied territories," said the statement by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Georgia.
