Georgia’s real gross domestic product (GDP) grew by 6.9% year-on-year in the second quarter of 2026, while nominal GDP reached GEL 28.147 billion, according to preliminary data released by the National Statistics Office (Geostat) on September 18. Growth was primarily driven by increases in value added in several economic activities, including transportation and storage (19.8%), arts, entertainment and recreation (17.4%), information and communication (16.6%), health (15%), wholesale, retail trade, repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles (8%), and manufacturing (7.3%). Meanwhile, construction declined by 4.8% and agriculture, forestry and fishing by 3.5%. Wholesale and retail trade accounted for the largest share of GDP by economic activity, at 14.9%.
