In Georgia, there is a plan to more than double the annual cargo transit volume from 40,000 to 100,000 tons. This significant increase is expected to enhance the country's logistics capabilities and attract more shipments through its territory. The announcement was made by Irakli Kirtskhaliya, the head of the Parliamentary Finance Committee, who emphasized that the current coordination with the Ministry of Finance aims to resolve issues related to transit cargo. The plan includes increasing the transit volume specifically for goods weighing over 100,000 tons and higher. Additionally, the transit of light cargo and semi-finished products is also considered, especially if their total volume exceeds 40,000 tons. This development is seen as a positive step towards strengthening Georgia's position as a key transit hub in the region.
