Georgia's transport and logistics sector recorded 'decade-high' figures in January-August 2026, with improved historic maximums in maritime ports and terminals, as well as in rail freight and civil aviation, the Economy Ministry reported on September 14. According to the ministry's press release citing preliminary data, Georgia's seaports and terminals handled 13.7 million tons of cargo during January-August, 24 percent more than during the same period last year. The ministry hailed the data as the highest result for the January-August period in the past 10 years. Growth was recorded across all cargo categories, while the number of containers handled at the ports reached 554,174 TEU, representing a 9 percent increase compared to the previous year.
