In January-August 2026, Georgia's transport and logistics sector demonstrated record results compared to the same period last year. According to the Ministry of Economy, historic maximums were recorded across all key indicators — maritime ports, road transport, and air aviation. The total cargo turnover in maritime ports and terminals reached 13.7 million tons, which is 24% more than the previous year. The total cargo turnover across all categories of transport amounted to 9%, with 554,174 TEU handled — also a record for the past 10 years. The volume of passenger transport increased by 11%, reaching 9.7 million people. The highest growth was observed in transit transport (+14%), indicating Georgia's increasing role in the regional corridor. This positive trend highlights Georgia's growing importance as a transport hub in the South Caucasus region.
