Annual forecasts of Iranian airline revenues from US sanctions indicate a rapid recovery in demand for flights to Georgia, a key market for the economy. According to the agency bm.ge, the Iranian tour operator plans to start flights to Georgia in 2025, focusing on the Black Sea coast. By the first six months of 2026, Georgia expects up to 29,300 Iranian visitors, which is 49% more than the previous year. Flight arrivals are projected to increase by 65%, from $124 million in 2025 to nearly $19.9 million in the next year. This trend is expected to finalize the recovery. According to data from the National Bank of Georgia, Iran accounts for about 2.6% of Georgia's total tourist arrivals annually. On September 8, the US Ministry of Commerce announced sanctions affecting Iranian airlines, which may influence the tourism flow to Georgia positively.
