In Georgia, a family of seven was detained for attempting to fraudulently appropriate a land plot valued at over 2.6 million lari (approximately $1 million) in the village of Gamardjveba, Gardabani municipality. The General Prosecutor's Office reported this incident. The case involves the fraudulent acquisition of land rights. According to the report, in May 2026, the fraudsters presented a forged power of attorney, which was issued in Georgia. The document and the registrar were verified, and the power of attorney was confirmed to be forged. The perpetrators performed the transaction on behalf of one of the members of the group. To maximize the illegal acquisition, the fraudsters also forged signatures on the land sale agreement. The scheme was uncovered at the final stage of the fictitious land sale transaction, when the buyer was about to register the land in another person's name.
