The French football club Paris Saint-Germain, captain of the Georgian national team Hvicha Kvaratskhelia, was recognized as the best football player of the Champions League for the 2025/26 season. Prior to the match, PSG presented the prestigious 'Slovana' award to Kvaratskhelia, handed over by the UEFA President Luis Figo. In the previous 25-year European group stage, 16 matches were played, in which 10 goals were scored and 7 penalty kicks were made, helping the Parisian club advance to the second round of the main UEFA European football tournament. Overall, during the Champions League season, Kvaratskhelia played 48 matches in all tournaments, scoring 19 goals and providing 11 assists. The player also appeared on the list of nominees for the 'Golden Ball' award. Thus, Hvicha became the first Georgian footballer to receive such a prestigious European football award.
