A Russian Telegram channel reported about a record passenger flow at the only land border crossing between Russia and Georgia — Upper Lars. These data were introduced in Tbilisi as misleading. The report titled "20 Thousand Russians: What the Trip to Upper Lars on the Border Says About the New Mobilization?" appeared at the beginning of August in New Georgia. On August 18, the North Caucasian customs service of the Russian Federation announced that more than 20 thousand people passed through the Upper Lars checkpoint within 24 hours. On August 15 and 16, it was noted that 19 thousand people crossed the border. "These figures clearly show the data of analytical periods of previous years," the FTS said. The Russian story reported on the increase in the number of people crossing the border by car and confirmed the presence of queues of cars and increased demand.
