In the construction area of the Anaklia deepwater port, daily work has begun to deepen the seabed using the vessel Tristao Da Cunha. Following the completion of preparatory procedures, the vessel arrived at the port area. This was reported by the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development. According to the data, the depth of the seabed will be increased from 14 to 17.5 meters. The total volume of soil to be dredged is about 1,380 meters long. Once completed, the port will be expanded to accommodate larger vessels. The dredging work is carried out by the Belgian company Jan De Nul, which won the contract in 2024 and cooperates with local partners. The government is investing in the port's development to boost automobile and rail freight transport. The contractor expects to complete the first phase of dredging by the end of the year.
