The Ministry of Health of Georgia has signed a contract with the Italian company Italpharmaco to purchase the drug Givinostat for children with Duchenne muscular dystrophy. About this, the head of the Health Department, Mikheil Sardjveladze, reported at a press conference. "It is realistic that treatment will begin in September. For this, it is necessary to conduct preliminary studies, the maximum duration of which is one month," Sardjveladze said in response to journalists' questions. He called the purchase "timely" and noted that Georgia is among the first countries in the world to include Givinostat in the state treatment program for this disease. The minister also mentioned that negotiations are underway for several other drugs, including Vamorolone, which has also been tested on patients. According to him, the results depend on the support provided.
