The National Bank of Georgia (NBG) has introduced a new cash register system: cashiers communicate with customers via WhatsApp and other messaging apps, issuing official receipts with QR codes. The system operates on two main scenarios. In the first, cashiers offer "help with credit" and conduct financial operations. In the second, they ask customers if someone wants to officially register a credit or pay off their debt. To confirm the operation or set a date, customers simply send a message via mobile banking and receive a login, password, PIN code, or SMS confirmation. This data is then sent to the bank, and the moment of payment is recorded. The National Bank notes that the regulator never communicates with customers directly.
