Negotiations between Georgia and the European Union on visa-free travel have begun in Brussels under a closed regime, with one key issue remaining unresolved between the parties. In Tbilisi, three EU treaties on the abolition of 'visa-free' zones were named, introducing the concept of 'political manipulation,' and experts in Brussels described the situation as 'almost hopeless.'

Starting in early 2027, EU countries may begin voting on visa-free travel for Georgian citizens, and to initiate this process, a large-scale official survey of citizens is planned, not a consensus of all 27 member states. Georgian Radio Service reports that on June 11, European diplomats discussed the 'latest warning' for Tbilisi.
