Georgia's National Statistics Office (Geostat) announced strong growth in the country's foreign trade performance during the first four months of 2026. Total exports increased by 21.1% year-on-year to $2.4 billion, with local exports reaching a record $1.5 billion. While there was a notable decline in the re-export of passenger cars, which fell by $217 million or 29% to $537 million, petroleum product exports surged by an extraordinary 922%. This surge was driven by the launch of operations at Georgia's first full-scale oil refinery, Black Sea Petroleum. Overall, Georgia exported $324 million worth of petroleum products between January and April, marking a significant milestone in the country's economic development.
