The Tbilisi city court overturned the decision to detain opposition activist Gela Khasaia, who was injured after a fight near the Desertirsky market. According to the court's decision, Khasaia will be released in September 2026. The court hearing was attended by Vasila Kerdikoshvili, the lawyer of Khasaia and the second defendant in the case. The lawyer reported that the case involves two articles of the Criminal Code of Georgia, which provide for imprisonment from four to six years. The prosecution stated that Khasaia received injuries through the actions of several people. According to the version, the real reason for the arrest was a one-year real sentence and three more years of probation. In August 2025, Khasaia and Kerdikoshvili will be released during the probation period.
