Министерство иностранных дел Грузии категорически осудило проведение «президентских выборов» в Цхинвальском регионе. Официальный Тбилиси подчеркивает, что электронные выборы под российским контролем не легитимируют оккупационный режим и не изменяют международно признанный статус Цхинвальского региона как неотъемлемой части Грузии. «Проведение так называемых выборов на оккупированных территориях Грузии с участием сил Российской Федерации, в условиях, когда внутренне перемещенные лица и беженцы не могут свободно и безопасно вернуться в свои дома, неприемлемо и не меняет правовой статус оккупированных территорий», — говорится в заявлении МИД Грузии.

Official Tbilisi emphasizes that electronic voting under Russian control does not legitimize the occupation regime or change the internationally recognized status of the Tskhinvali region as a non-part of Georgia. "The holding of so-called elections on the occupied territories of Georgia with the participation of Russian Federation forces, in conditions where internally displaced persons and refugees are unable to freely and safely return to their homes, is unacceptable and does not change the legal status of the occupied territories," said the statement by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Georgia.
