The National Bank of Georgia (NBG) has reduced the key refinancing rate to 8.25% per annum. Following the decision made on September 9, the central bank committed to a medium-term policy aimed at resolving inflation issues, noting that inflation in August decreased to 5.6%, while the average forecast for 2026 is expected to be around 5.2%. The decision to lower the rate by 3% reflects favorable factors and positive prospects, including the strengthening of the geopolitical situation in the Black Sea region, advancements in energy, and the development of production on the world markets. According to the NBG, the base inflation rate is currently 3.6%, with inflation in the service sector at 4.4%. This indicates that internal inflationary pressures are not increasing, and inflation expectations remain stable.
