В акватории строящегося глубоководного порта Анакия начались ежедневные работы по углублению дна с использованием судна Tristao Da Cunha. После завершения подготовительных процедур судно прибыло в портовую зону. Об этом сообщило Министерство экономики и устойчивого развития. Согласно данным, глубина морского дна будет увеличена с 14 до 17,5 метров. Общий объем грунта, подлежащего углублению, составляет около 1380 метров в длину. По завершении работ порт будет расширен для приема более крупных судов. Работы по углублению выполняет бельгийская компания Jan De Nul, получившая контракт в 2024 году и сотрудничающая с местными партнерами. Правительство инвестирует в развитие порта для увеличения автомобильных и железнодорожных грузоперевозок. Подрядчик планирует завершить первый этап углубления к концу года.
