Парламентская ассамблея Совета Европы (ПАСЕ) заявила, что в Грузии «в настоящее время не существует условий для проведения подлинно демократических выборов» и призвала к освобождению задержанных представителей демократических институтов в стране.

Резолюция «О функционировании демократических институтов в Грузии» была принята 24 июня большинством голосов. За документ высказались 83 депутата, против — пять, еще 27 воздержались. В целом в ПАСЕ входят 612 депутатов.

В резолюции говорится, что демократический процесс в Грузии проходит «без каких-либо свободных гарантий справедливых, равных возможностей и инклюзивности». Авторы резолюции также отметили, что выборы в стране не соответствовали ни одной из предыдущих рекомендаций ПАСЕ.

«Резолюция призывает к освобождению задержанных представителей демократических институтов и подчеркивает важность обеспечения свободных и справедливых выборов в Грузии», — говорится в документе.

The Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) announced that in Georgia "at present there are no conditions for holding genuine democratic elections" and called for the release of detained representatives of democratic institutions in the country.

The resolution "On the functioning of democratic institutions in Georgia" was adopted on June 24 by a large majority. According to the document, 83 deputies voted in favor, while only four opposed and 27 abstained. In total, 612 deputies are members of PACE.

The resolution states that the democratic process in Georgia is taking place "without any free guarantees of fair, equal opportunities and inclusiveness." The authors of the resolution also noted that the elections in the country did not meet any of the previous PACE recommendations.

"The resolution calls for the release of detained representatives of democratic institutions and stresses the importance of ensuring free and fair elections in Georgia," the document says.
