"Когда эта сделка начиналась, ее 'владелец' был Национальный банк. У нас было два раунда переговоров, мы о чем-то договаривались, но Национальный банк остановил сделку", — сказал Рухадзе. По его словам, он не будет углубляться в детали, но отметил, что Национальный банк заявил "не одобрено".

The National Bank of Georgia blocked the sale of Liberty Bank to Chinese investors for the first time, citing concerns about the reliability of the Chinese participant. This statement was made by the former head of the bank, businessman Irakli Rukhadze, during an interview with Sasha Katsman. Basis Bank had signed a deal to purchase Liberty after a year of negotiations. "When this deal began, it was 'owned' by the National Bank. We had two rounds of negotiations, and we discussed something, but the National Bank stopped the deal," said Rukhadze. He added that he would not speculate on the reasons but emphasized that the National Bank declared the deal 'not approved.'
