Глава службы по связям с общественностью патриархии Грузии, Андрей Джагмайдзе, представил архивное видео избрания высочайшего предстоятеля Русской православной церкви в Тбилиси в 2017 году. Публикация, по его словам, должна развеять множество слухов о возможном влиянии Москвы на назначение нового предстоятеля патриаршего престола – митрополита Шио Муджири.

На кадрах запечатлена встреча тогдашнего главы Грузинской православной церкви митрополита Илариона Алфеева с католикосом-патриархом всей Грузии Илией II. Он посетил Тбилиси с однодневным официальным визитом 1 ноября 2017 года, и в ходе визита Илия II официально назвал своего преемника.

«Мы нашли [запись] в архивах Патриархии, и она уникальна. Зрители увидят её первую часть», – представил видео Джагмайдзе.

The head of the service on relations with the public of the Georgian Patriarchate, Andria Dzhagmaidze, presented an archival video of the election of the Supreme Patriarch of the Georgian Orthodox Church Ilia II. The publication, according to its words, should dispel many rumors about the possible influence of Moscow on the appointment of the new head of the patriarchal throne – Metropolitan Shio Mudzhiri.

At the time of the recording, the head of the Georgian Patriarchate was Metropolitan Ilia Alfeev of Ilarion, a catolicos-patriarch of all Georgia Ilia II. He arrived in Tbilisi with a one-day official visit on November 1, 2017, and during this visit, Ilia II officially named his successor.

"We found [the recording] in the archives of the Patriarchate, and it is unique. The viewers will see its first part," Dzhagmaidze said.
