Швейцария с 3 апреля вводит визовый режим для владельцев дипломатических, служебных и официальных паспортов Грузии, следуя решению Евросоюза.

Об этом сообщил Федеральный совет Швейцарии.

Швейцарские власти подчеркнули, что, хотя страна не является членом Евросоюза, они обязаны имплементировать меры будучи частью Шенгенской зоны.

Ограничения будут действовать в течение 12 месяцев и затронут только обладателей специальных паспортов.

Граждане Грузии с обычными документами по-прежнему смогут въезжать в Шенгенскую зону без виз для краткосрочных поездок.

Для задействования нововведений Швейцария также приостанавливает действие ряда статей соглашения с Грузией об упрощенных процедурах выдачи виз.

Как пояснили тогда в Брюсселе, отныне для въезда в страны Шенгенской зоны с официальными целями им необходимо будет получить визу.

Эти меры объяснили «систематическими нарушениями» обязательств Грузии в области демократии и прав человека, включая репрессии против протестующих, оппозиционных политиков и независимых СМИ, а также отказ согласовывать визовую политику с ЕС.

Switzerland is introducing a visa regime from April 3 for holders of diplomatic, service and official passports of Georgia, following the decision of the European Union.

This was announced by the Federal Council of Switzerland.

Swiss authorities emphasized that although the country is not a member of the European Union, they are obliged to implement the measures as part of the Schengen Area.

The restrictions will be in effect for 12 months and will only affect holders of special passports.

Georgian citizens with ordinary documents will still be able to enter the Schengen Area without a visa for short-term trips.

To implement the innovations, Switzerland is also suspending a number of articles of the agreement with Georgia on simplified visa issuance procedures.

As explained in Brussels at the time, from now on they will need to obtain a visa to enter Schengen countries for official purposes.
